Today is Be Humble Day

February 22nd is Be Humble Day! Humility may be the most difficult of all the virtues to truly attain as there seems to be a paradox in that claiming to have humility may be an act of pride. Be Humble Day is focused on humbling yourself. As a result, no boasting allowed on Be Humble Day – it kind of defeats the purpose of the day.

In a fascinating twist of irony, the person responsible for the founding of Be Humble Day is unknown. Whoever it was clearly took humility seriously and didn’t bother to brag about starting a recognized day of celebration. Perhaps the person was so humble that they didn’t even stop to think they might have instigated something that would reach so far.

The observance of Be Humble Day can succeed in many ways, but all the avenues of observance should maintain the quietness associated with humility. There should be no loud proclamations of the fact that you’re celebrating Be Humble Day (that would ruin the point). Instead, the first step is simply to be humble. But you can also encourage others and focus on their achievements – giving a friend or co-worker the props they deserve is an excellent way to keep in the spirit of Be Humble Day.

Today is National Margarita Day

February 22nd is National Margarita Day! The margarita cocktail – a famous concoction of tequila, Cointreau or Triple Sec, and lime juice – has been around since the 1940s. Every bartender in the world has put a unique spin on this classic, but no one knows who created the original.

Dozens of people claim that they invented the margarita, including a bartender named Willie from Mexico City. He said that in 1934 he created and named the drink for his friend Marguerite Hemery. Another popular legend is that Carlos “Danny” Herrera developed the drink at his restaurant in Tijuana in 1938. He reportedly invented it for Marjorie King, a customer who was allergic to all hard alcohol except tequila, and didn’t like its sour taste. Another story is that the Dallas socialite Margarita Sames mixed up the drink in 1948 for a house full of guests. One of them was Tommy Hilton who later added the drink to the bar menu at his hotels.

While the true identity of the tequila master may never be known, the margarita will go down in history as one of the most popular mixed drinks of all time. To celebrate National Margarita Day, invite some friends over and enjoy a pitcher of homemade margaritas!

How Much Debt Is TOO Much When Dating?

Debt is something that stresses a lot of people out, so it makes sense that folks don’t want to have to deal with anyone’s debt other than their own. For this reason, a lot of people are hesitant to get into a relationship with someone in debt, and a new poll reveals at what point it becomes an absolute deal breaker.

The survey of 2,000 Millennials finds that debts of $25,000 or more is an absolute deal breaker in a relationship, while 25% of folks say that a partner with the same amount of debt as them is also a no-no, regardless of how much debt that is. Some folks can be swayed depending on the type of debt, with 63% willing to accept it if their partner’s debt was from student loans, although 37% would still consider it a deal breaker.

And owing money can also affect what goes on in the bedroom. Believe it or not, 14% of people say debt has decreased their sexual attraction to their partner, with 65% saying debt is pretty important when deciding whether someone is a life partner.

A Hologram Barbie Is Coming This Fall

There’s no doubt lots of little girls love to play with Barbie, and now Mattel has come up with a new way to play with the beloved doll, although play may actually be a strong word.

The toy company just introduced what they are calling the Barbie Hologram, which is a digitally interactive version of Barbie. The toy, which will be priced under $300, features a hologram of the doll inside a plastic container. As long as the device is plugged in Barbie can be on for 24-hours, and gives kids the ability to change her appearance in various ways, like what she’s wearing or even her skin tone.

Hologram Barbie, which is expected to debut in the fall, is meant to be hooked up to the Internet, so as the description says, it is interactive, which means it can do everything from carry on conversations with the user, to teach them dance moves, give them the time and more. It can also connect to Bluetooth in order to play music when synched up to a phone or other device, and can even offer daily reminders to its user.

Construction Worker Shoots Nail Into His Crotch

A 22-year-old workman is lucky to be alive after accidentally firing an inch-and-a-half nail into his own crotch - only just missing his penis.

Sam Rees mistimed pulling the trigger on a hydraulic hand nail gun while working on a site near Swansea and was left with an excruciating injury.

Horrifying photographs of the accident were captured by Mathew Meagher, a colleague of the unfortunate worker.

Mr. Rees said: 'I was using a nail gun outside and unfortunately I was using it to fire something towards me and the nail just ricocheted and went into my groin.

'The nail was 90mm (3.5in) long and it was embedded 70mm (2.8in) deep. Doctors said it missed my artery by 10mm (0.4in). If I had pulled it out myself I would have bled to death.

'I didn’t really realize how serious the whole thing was until I got to the hospital. I had to have minor surgery to take it out – but having the drip in my arm hurt more.

'I have been having a bit of stick from my colleagues. I've had a couple of harsh comments, but if you do something stupid you expect it."

The President Of Iceland Has Strong Opinions On Pizza Toppings

When it comes to the pizza, the president of Iceland has very strong opinions. During a stop at a high school in North Iceland, a student asked President Jóhannesson what he thought of pineapple as a pizza topic. Turns out, he's not a fan.

In fact, the president said he's "fundamentally opposed" to the idea and if could pass laws, he would ban the topping across the country. Naturally there are some supporters as well as some detractors.

The story got big enough that Jóhannesson had to clarify his statement. While he appreciates pineapple as much as they next guy, he prefers seafood on his pizza. Wait, what?
