Miley Cyrus Hits Back At Trump's Military Ban On Transgender People

President Donald Trump's announcement to reinstate a ban on transgender individuals from serving "in any capacity" in the US armed forces has rubbed Miley Cyrus the wrong way.

Cyrus, like many of folks, is absolutely "heartbroken" over the news and took to Instagram on Wednesday morning (July 26) to share her thoughts on the controversy. "I am heart broken today ..... please don't erase our progress!" she wrote on the social media platform. "We've come so far! For our transgender friends who need someone to talk to , don't hesitate to reach out to @translifeline ! They are apart of the @happyhippiefdn family and will take amazing care of u!"

Trump's decision reverses a policy, which was approved by the Defense Department under President Barack Obama, and was still pending final review. It was set to allow transgender individuals to openly serve in the military. "After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the U.S. Military," Trump wrote on Twitter earlier in the day. "Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail."
