Badgers Can't Complete Comeback, Fall 65-57 To Ohio State In B1G Tourney

The highest of highs and the lowest of lows. The Wisconsin Badgers looked about as bad as they possibly could in the first half, down 18 after the first 20 minutes of play and quickly falling to down 27 points in the second half.

It looked like the game and Wisconsin's NCAA Tournament hopes were over.

But they were able to battle almost all the way back. The Badgers went on a 19-2 run over an eight minute stretch in the second half and ended up getting within four points of Ohio State. But ultimately, the comeback bid fell short and the Buckeyes held off the Badgers 65-57.

Tyler Wahl went on an 8-0 run by himself in the second half, leading the way in scoring for Wisconsin with 19 points along with 10 rebounds for a double-double. Connor Essegian had a rough night shooting, going just 4-13 from the field and 1-7 from beyond the arc but still ended up with 11 points and eight rebounds.

Wisconsin shot just 18% on three pointers and didn't make any in the first half.

Ohio State shot 68% in the first half, helping them pull away to a big enough lead that was insurmountable for the Badgers.

Wisconsin's Big Ten Tournament is done and their last chance to impress the selection committee ends with a bit of a thud. They haven't won consecutive games since January 3rd and other bubble teams will have chances to rack up wins heading into Selection Sunday. A loss in the first round does a lot of damage to their hopes of making the tournament.
