A recent survey conducted by the music streaming service Spotify and Figure 1, "a global knowledge-sharing platform for healthcare professionals," has found out that your surgeon is very likely rocking out while you're under the knife. The survey, which polled nearly 700 surgeons from over 50 different countries, found that 90-percent of its respondents answered in the affirmative about playing music while performing surgery. Of this overwhelming majority, 49-percent said that rock was their favorite genre, barely edging out pop (48-percent) and classical music (43-percent) as the most popular genre. Why do these professionals enjoy turning up the tunes while operating? They cited music's ability to ease the tension in the room and keep everyone focused.
