Pope Raises Prospect Of Priests Marrying
Lots of people have wondered: How can priests counsel married couples…if they’ve never been married themselves? It seems the Pope gets that logic. Of course, it’s also because the Catholic Church is facing a shortage of priests.
Either way, the Holy Father is said to be considering a partial lifting of priestly celibacy with a possible vote by Brazilian bishops on the subject. This comes after a request made by Cardinal Claudio Hummes, the president of the Episcopal Commission for the Amazon.
It’s not too shocking that Francis would want a discussion on the matter. Earlier this year, Francis said the Church should consider allowing married men to become priests in specific circumstances. The discussion – if it happens – will take place during the synod meeting in 2019.

Zucchini Mistaken For A Bomb
Police in Germany thought they had another unexploded bomb on their hands. Instead, they had a vegetable.
An 81-year-old man in the town of Bretten called authorities after he spotted what he thought was an explosive from World Water II. Police admit the object "really did look very like a bomb" but it turned out to be a whopping 16-inch-long zucchini.
Authorities say it's not uncommon to find unexploded wartime bombs. In this case, they believe someone tossed the zucchini over a hedge and into the man's garden.

Would You Be Okay With Airlines Weighing You Before Flights?
This week, Finnish airline Finnair has been weighing select volunteer passengers at check-in, with their outerwear and luggage on, all for scientific study. With obesity becoming a global epidemic, the average weight of men and women has increased since 2008, when the European Aviation Safety Agency last reported the average weights, in order to ensure safest calculations for fueling and flying planes. The last calculations reported men’s weight at 185 pounds and women at 145 pounds and under 12s at 67 pounds, but Finnair wants to make sure they’re still in the right range.
- Would you travel less if airlines started asking you to weigh in before you boarded the plane?
Hottest Toy Of 2017 Already Being Marked Up From $15 To $180
If you’re one of those people who likes to do your holiday shopping early and want to find one of this year’s hottest toys for the little one on your list, you’d better get started now. According to market research firm The NPD Group, one of the best-selling toys this September was something called a Fingerling and prices for them are already skyrocketing on third party sites.
Fingerlings are finger-sized plastic monkeys that sit on your finger and respond to touch, motion, and sound. Robotic toymaker WowWee launched them in August and they were sold for as little as $14.99 at stores like Walmart, Best Buy, and Toys R Us. But now that they’re in high demand, third party sites like Trendly are selling them for up to $180!
The adorable Fingerlings each have a name: Zoe, Mia, Finn, Boris, Bella, Sophie, and Gigi are just a few. And they come with fun accessories like monkey bars, swing sets, and see-saws for $39.99 — if you can find them.
It might seem silly to be searching for this must-have toy now, but Fingerlings could be the Hatchimals of 2017. Remember that hot toy from last year? They were all the rage during the 2016 holiday season and retailed for $59.99, but when everyone sold out, sites like eBay had them selling for up to $1,000.
Woman on horseback arrested for DUI
Yes, apparently you can be charged with DUI for drunken horseback riding, at least in Polk County, Florida.
The Orlando Sentinel reports that 53-year-old Donna Byrne was arrested and charged with drunk driving Thursday, while riding a horse on a public road.
A spokesman for the Polk County Sheriff's Office told the paper that Byrne smelled of alcohol and staggered when she was stopped riding a horse named Boduke on a road in Lakeland, Florida Thursday afternoon. According to the paper a passer-by called police after seeing a woman who appeared confused riding a horse.
The spokesman, Brian Bruchey, said Byrne's blood-alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit. She was arrested and charged with driving under the influence and animal neglect.
Boduke was taken to the County Sheriff's Animal Control livestock facility and will most likely be returned to Byrne, according to the paper“Ms. Byrne was obviously not in any condition to be on the road. She not only put herself and the horse in danger, but also anyone who was driving on the road, which is typically very busy,” Sheriff Grady Judd said.
