Some people are finding true love in themselves.
If you don't love yourself, who will? It's a moot point for some people who are deciding to give up traditional marriage and jump on a new trend of marrying themselves. It's not a clever way to pay less taxes but some of the people who go through with the ceremony find it's a great way to celebrate themselves.
For some, it's a way to help heal, particularly if they've gotten out of an abusive relationship. The commitment to a relationship with one's self, or sologamy as it's called, is also a pretty good excuse to throw a party for friends and family.
Fun fact: men are into this trend too. Why not? And as you may have guessed, it isn’t legally binding.
