These days most of us are used to the holiday creep, when stores start putting out Christmas decorations and items well before Thanksgiving, but it seems one store in the UK has taken that holiday creep to a new extreme.
The UK store Selfridge’s, which has been around since 1909, has already launched its Christmas Shop, with more than 500 products on display, and another 3,800 expected in the store on September 4th. This year’s theme is music-based, “Selfridges Rocks Christmas,” and will feature items like David Bowie-shaped ornaments for the trees, and even an Elvis Presley nutcracker.
While it may be in the high 80s in England right now, the store insists launching the shop 145 days before Xmas is their way of catering to their customers’ demands, although not everyone agrees. Shopper Diane Herbert noted, “At our age, we think life goes too quick without bringing Christmas forward.”
