It's currently August...as in summer. But that isn't stopping Starbucks from rushing the seasons, and bringing back its beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte next week.
According to People magazine, the beverage returns to Starbucks stores August 28, nearly a month before fall officially begins.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of Pumpkin Spice Latte, and People quotes a Starbucks press release that features some fun facts about the drink.
Apparently, when the flavor was in development at Starbucks headquarters in Seattle in 2003, the team really wanted to perfect the pumpkin coffee flavor, so they literally bought pumpkin pies and poured espresso shots on top of them to get the right taste. Another fun fact: The drink was almost called Fall Harvest Latte.
Starbucks says the current PSL is made with real pumpkin, cinnamon, ginger, clove and nutmeg.
And the depths of PSL love knows no bounds, apparently: Starbucks actually created a closed Facebook page for lovers of the drink, and all things autumn. It's called the Leaf Rakers Society.
