Having A Work Bestie Is Good For Your Career

When we start a new job, it’s always nice to connect with colleagues. Sometimes we get lucky and really bond with a coworker and actually become friends and allies, both in and out of the office. And having a buddy that you can trust and confide in at work can actually boost your career.

According to Lindsey Pollak, a multigenerational workplace expert, having a workplace confidant who can be a sounding board or supporter is important for growth in your career. “Sometimes you just need someone to listen so that you can vent,” she explains. “Sometimes you need someone who is good at giving advice or who can give you tough love.”

Being able to bounce ideas off your work bestie or having her be able to talk you down when you’re beyond can make all the difference. Someone who knows and understands the specific politics and dynamics of the office and sees your perspective is an amazing resource. And the best perk of a work BFF? It makes going to work every day so much better!

Hubby Has Bought 55K Dresses For His Wife

You might expect the largest dress collection in the world to be in some designer’s warehouse somewhere, but it’s actually at Paul and Margot Brockman’s East Mesa, Arizona home. The couple has been married for 61 years and their collection kept growing because 83-year-old Paul kept buying dresses for his wife.

“If I saw a dress that I really liked, well, I bought it,” Paul explains. And over the years, his eye for fashion has chosen a lot of dresses – 55-THOUSAND to be exact! The gowns fill the couple’s garage, a specially designed closet, and three 50-foot long containers. His love for dressing Margot goes back to the night they met at a dance in their native Germany. They danced and fell in love, and she can’t even remember the dress she was wearing, but he does.

And ever since, he’s been gifting Margot dresses, most of them secondhand and vintage because he loves the fashions of the ‘50s, with all the wide skirts and petticoats. But they eventually ran out of room and Paul bought his last frock in 2014. Now the couple wants to sell the collection all together, except for some 200 dresses they’ve kept for Margot.

Some wives would be upset to see tens of thousands of their gowns go, but Margot doesn’t seem to mind too much. This may sound surprising considering she’s owned 55-thousand of them, but Paul admits,”She’s not that much into dresses.”

Cassette Sales On The Rise

While people are rarely buying actual albums these days, it turns out more people seem to be interested in cassette tapes. According to Nielsen Music, cassette tape sales rose by 23% last year, climbing from 178,000 copies in 2017 to 219,000 in 2018.

Now that doesn’t seem like a lot of copies, but in comparison, back in 2014 only 50,000 cassettes were sold.

So, what’s with the resurgence? Well, apparently the “Guardians of the Galaxy” albums have made them popular. In fact, “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1” was the best-selling cassette last year with 24,000 copies, while “Vol. 2” sold 19,000 copies, making it the second-most popular cassette.

Check out the top ten selling cassettes of 2018 below:

  1. Soundtrack, “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1”
  2. Soundtrack, “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2: Awesome Mix Vol. 2”

Cotton Candy Wedding Bouquets Are A New Trend

Every bride wants her wedding to feel unique and special, so some opt to carry something other than a bouquet as they walk down the aisle. Some unconventional brides have had their bridesmaids carry puppies or candles or even pinwheels instead of traditional flowers, but there’s a trendy new floral bouquet alternative that’s the sweetest one we’ve seen: cotton candy bouquets.

What exactly is a cotton candy bouquet, you ask? It’s just a stick of spun sugar cotton candy, the old-school kids’ favorite, but when it’s carried during a wedding by a bridesmaid or a bride, it becomes a cotton candy bouquet. They’re a great alternative to flowers because they look great in photos and cost much less than fresh flowers, plus you’ve got a snack handy in case you get hungry. Brilliant!
