You don’t have to go under the knife anymore if you want to tweak your nose because scientists just developed a nose job that uses electricity instead of surgery. And the best part? It only takes five minutes!
Researchers from Occidental College in California found that sending electrical current through cartilage, like what’s in the nose, makes it more flexible. They send the current in using tiny needles and use a mold to allow the cartilage to harden in its new shape before turning off the electricity.
“Once the tissue is floppy, you can mold it to whatever shape,”Dr. Michael Hill explains.
This could be a game-changer for cosmetic surgery, which can come with long recovery times. Plus, who would opt for anesthesia, cuts, stitches, and scars when you could do it this way?
