Spending Two Hours A Week In Nature Is Good For Health
Everyone’s so busy and stressed out and we’re trying to find the perfect form of self-care to help balance it all out, but it turns out, nature could be the quick fix we’re looking for. According tonew researchfrom the University of Exeter Medical School in the U.K., spending two hours a week in nature can boost our health and wellbeing.
The study shows that just being outside frequently is good for both body and spirit. It doesn’t even matter what we do out there, we get the physical and mental health benefit whether we’re sitting on a bench eating lunch in the park or going for a hike. And the research finds the same results for people in the study no matter their age, gender, ethnicity, or socio-economic background. Even those with long-term illnesses or disabilities reported a boost from being in nature for the recommended two hours.
But don’t think you can just live in an area surrounded by green space and get the same benefit. The study suggests you need “direct exposure” to nature to get the health and well being boost. But it doesn’t matter what you do in the two hours, as long as you’re outside breathing in fresh air, you’re getting the boost.
