Area 51 Arrivals Begin

Cancelled, schmanceled…at last check, a few hundred folks – of the human, not alien variety – have turned up in Rachel, Nevada for the sort of cancelled “Storm Area 51-turned-Alienstock” event. There’s evena live stream rolling.

And while local residents have been clear that they’re not interested in their earthling visitors, officials say they’re ready for whatever comes. “We are preparing for the worst and hoping for the best,” says Lincoln County Emergency ManagerEric Holt. “If we don’t get the numbers for what we’re prepared for we can send some of the resource home. If we need it we can have it.”

And about the UFOs people thought they say near Las Vegas Wednesday night…they weren’t. Turns out, the strange lights in the skywere actually just skydivers trying to land at Sam Boyd Stadium.

Man Locks Chocolate In Fridge Safe So Fiancée Can’t Eat It

A woman in the U.K. is fuming after opening her fridge to see a safe inside.Stacey Lowe’sfiancée installed it and she couldn’t open the locked see-through box, but she could see what he was trying to keep from her: his precious chocolate stash.

Lowe shared photos of the food safe onFacebookand vented her frustrations. “You buy a house together, have a child together, get engaged, are planning a wedding and this happens,” she writes. She goes on to call him an a-hole because he doesn’t want to share his chocolate with her anymore and adds, “Anyone want him? Surely this is breakup material right?!”

The self-confessed chocoholic says she laughed at first, but then told her fiancée it was torture since she can see what’s in there and can’t have it. Lowe also reveals he says he’s going to get another safe for the cabinet for chips and sweets. She later updated her post with a link to similar fridge safes and says she’s going to get one for herself because “two can play at that game!”

The Best Time To Book Holiday Travel Starts Next Week

While summer isn’t really officially over until Monday, and the farthest thing from some people’s minds is the holiday season, a new report suggests it’s time for people to start thinking about their holiday travel plans, especially if they want to get a good deal.

According to the AAA, the best time to book flights for Thanksgiving starts next week, September 25thto be exact. According to data from the last three years, those who book flights between September 25thand October 7thwill get pretty good prices, about $491 on average, along with the best availability, The site notes that some of the best deals can actually be found seven to 13 days before the holiday (November 11thto 17th) but travelers then run the risk of limited availability.

If you want the lowest ticket price for Thanksgiving, AAA says you should consider flying the Monday before the holiday, where prices average about $486. Also traveling on Thanksgiving day will save you money, with average price of $454. If your main objective is to avoid crowds, travel the Sunday before the holiday, which is normally the lightest travel day, although it is also the most expensive.

  • And folks should also be thinking about their Christmas travel plans as well, with the optimal time to book being September 26ththrough October 25th, with flights averaging about $55. Again, better prices may be found between October 26thto November 27th, but availability will be limited.

Tiny Nevada Desert Towns Prep for “Storm Area 51” Influx: “It’s Happening”

Visitors descending on the remote Nevada desert for “Storm Area 51” are from Earth, not outer space. No one knows what to expect, but the two tiny towns of Rachel and Hiko near the once-secret military research site are preparing for an influx of people over the next few days. “It’s happening. We already have people from all over the world,” Little A’Le’Inn proprietor Connie West said Wednesday from her bustling cafe and motel, where volunteers have arrived from Poland, Scotland, Australia, Florida, Idaho and Oklahoma. Neighbors, elected officials and event organizers said the craze sparked by an internet joke inviting people to “see them aliens” might become a cultural marker, a monumental dud or something in between. Area 51′s secrecy has long fueled fascination about extraterrestrial life, UFOs and conspiracy theories, giving rise to the events this week and prompting military warnings not to approach the protected site.

Sexy Halloween Costumes Already Available, And This Year’s There’s a Mr. Rogers One.

Could it be the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse? Or is it sexy retailer Yandy’s 2019 line of Halloween costumes? This year’s tantalizing cultural interpretations include a sexy version of the otherwise extremely wholesome and nice Mr. Rogers. The “Nicest Neighbor” costume — which costs $59.99 — comes with a red V-neck knit sweater, a detached collar and tie, and high-waisted gray booty shorts. To complete the look, there’s also a vinyl wig and creepy puppets as part of the “Be My Neighbor” costume kit for an additional $12.95. Should we really be surprised, though? Last year, Yandy made headlines over its sexy “Handmaid’s Tale” look. The costume was removed from the site. Later, executives told The Post that Yandy tries to “one-up themselves” every year.

  • Is the sexy Mr. Rodgers Halloween costume going too far? How long do you think it will be on the shelf?
