Is Having Friends At Work More Important Than Perks And Benefits?

Imagine you’re offered two jobs. Both positions are the same, the only difference is the companies themselves. At company one, you’d have great perks like unlimited paid vacation and free snacks in the vending machine, but none of the employees talk to each other or get along. Meanwhile,at company two, there are no added perks on your salary but everyone in the office is as close as the cast of Friends.Which job would you take?

If you’re leaning towards the second option, good news, recent surveys say you’re choosing a happier work environment. While studying what makes the top workplaces thrive, happy employees reported it’s their colleagues, mentors, bosses or friends that make them love their work.

  • Benefits Of Work BFFs.Workplace friendships reduce turnover, absenteeism, and boost feelings of job security and satisfaction. Also, employees with friends at work are more likely to provide help and feedback and the have increased effort and production.Hear that boss man? If you want to raise your bottom line it may be time to hire some funner folks.
  • Don’t Build A Business, Build A Fraternity.Companies could benefit from building a “fraternity environment”minus the binge drinking and hazing.Studies show that offices are more productive if they eat together. So modern companies aren’t off-base by offering free lunches or kombucha on-tap because while those perks are great, the connections those social gatherings inspire are more important.

Americans Don’t Treat Their Phones Very Well

While most people can’t live without their phones these days, it seems a lot of us don’t really treat our devices all that well.

A new survey finds…

  • One in three Americans currently have a crack in their phone screen.
  • The fear of dropping phones and cracking screens is giving a lot of Americans “Phone-xiety.”
  • 52% of folks are “always” worried about the safety of their phone.
  • The average American almost drops their phone at least six times every week.
  • The average American drops their phone four times a week, while a third drop it more than that.

Now dropping a phone on the floor is bad, but apparently a lot of folks have dropped their phones in even worse places. The most unfortunate places people have dropped their phones include:

  • Sewer
  • Bar bathroom floor
  • Hospital bathroom
  • Port-o-Potty
  • Pot of rice
  • Bowl of soup
  • Dog’s water bowl
  • Dumpster
  • Beer cup
  • Trash can

Worst Day To Grocery Shop For Thanksgiving Dinner

Want to have a stress-free (or at least LESS stressful) Thanksgiving? It turns out, it all starts with hitting the grocery store at the right time. So much goes into preparing for the holiday, having a solid strategy can help you have a smooth, successful dinner and knowing when to do the shopping is the first step.

According to the book “Grocery: The Buying and Selling of Food in America,” there’s one day we should avoid going to the supermarket to buy the fixings for the turkey dinner. It seems the Tuesday before Thanksgiving is the absolute worst day for grocery shopping for a turkey and everything that goes with it. This year, that day is Tuesday, November 26th.

The book explains that everyone assumes Wednesday - the day before the holiday - will be a bad day to shop, so they try to beat the crowds by going on Tuesday. And while you could take your chances and wait until Wednesday to stock up, you risk the best options being picked over or running out. So when is the best time to grocery shop for Thanksgiving? A week or so before Turkey Day, if not earlier.

Women Are Getting Lash Lice From Eye Lash Extensions!

Eyelash extensions are a popular beauty treatment that many women regularly undergo, and while they might look great, they could potentially pose a pretty nasty danger: the proliferation of Demodex, or lash lice. You might be ginger with your lash extensions so as not to disturb them or remove any of the hairs, but that’s a serious problem. Doctors warn that bacterial build-up in the lashes could lead to lash lice developing. According to ABC7, symptoms of lash lice include redness, irritation, and itching in the area. If you’re experiencing any of those things, it’s important to see a doctor as it’s really not normal. Dr. Sairah Malik recommends using a tea tree oil-based cleaner since it’s antibacterial and should prohibit the growth of any mites. She also said the best way to prevent it is to give your natural lashes a break from the extensions every once in a while. You’re just as beautiful without them, I promise.

  • Is this article going to make you ditch your eyelash extensions?
  • Do you know anyone that’s gotten lash lice?

Would You Rather Receive A Gift With a Personal Touch Then An Expensive Price Tag?

According to new research, a majority of Americans would rather receive something with a personal touch than an expensive retail item this holiday season. The study, which found that 62 percent of Americans prefer gifts that come from the heart and feel more personal, revealed that the holidays are more about sentimentality than lavish, expensive gifts. In the Vistaprint survey of 2,000 Americans, conducted by OnePoll, it was also revealed that nearly every type of generic gift takes a backseat to gifts perceived as “heartfelt” and “personalized.”

  • What’s the most heartfelt gift you’ve ever received?
