Zero waste Christmas wrapping options

That’s a wrap! Finished shopping for Second-hand Christmas, now under the tree the gifts sit until the big day. I love the variety of wrappings I was able to snag!

One of the “rules” of Second-hand Christmas is the wrapping has to be sustainable- no single-use wrapping paper. I was able to find pre-loved gift boxes of fun colors- if the recipient doesn’t want the box, I’ll take it back to be used for other future gifts! I found a super cute tea tin and even a burlap Christmas tree draw string bag. I used newspaper, old shopping bags, and tissue paper that came from previous gifts! Think outside the box when it comes to wrapping! You could get a small gift and have the wrapping be a cute thrifted purse- two gifts in one! .

Here are the rules again if you want to try Second-hand Christmas with your own family...

1. Gifts have to be second-hand, from a thrift store - no matter where it comes from, it has to have had a previous owner.

2. Gifts total no more than $20 per person - this makes it affordable to shop for everyone in the family without the post-shopping guilt

3.Wrapping has to be sustainable - this could be newspaper, decorated brown paper, a fun tin (second-hand, of course), etc.

The benefits:

> You're avoiding consumerism. You're not perpetuating the cycle of creating new products.

> You’re creating less waste. Think of the amount of trash that we’ve created at past holiday gatherings - it’s insane! >It's a treasure hunt! You really don't know what you'll find into when you go thrifting - that's the fun of it!

>it’s affordable; you can buy for the whole family if you with without the post-shopping guilt!

Shopping tip: Have a general gift idea for the person you're shopping for. Don't be too specific as it's unlikely you'll find exactly what you're hoping for. For example, I told my family that I'd love cooking supplies - Pyrex dishes with the click on tops, neutral, cozy sweaters, used KitchenAid mixer (dream on! lol), etc.
