NATIONAL UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER DAY – MUDD DAY – NATIONAL UNDERDOG DAY – NATIONAL SANGRIA DAY

The Top Jobs Kids Wanted To Be When They Grew Up

At some point in their lives, all kids are asked “what do you want to be when you grow up?” but let’s face it, for most people what they dreamed of as a kid, didn’t turn into a reality once they got older.

A new poll finds…

  • Two-thirds of Americans failed to fulfill their childhood dreams when it comes to their job.
  • Of the 67% who didn’t fulfill their vision, 58% wish that they had.
  • What’s more, 82% of those people who didn’t fulfill their childhood dreams are not pursuing them at all as adults.

So, what were the jobs most kids said they wanted to be when they grew up? Well, overall the top choice was doctor, followed by:

  • Teacher
  • Veterinarian
  • Musician
  • Movie star
  • Professional athlete
  • Artist
  • Business owner
  • Writer
  • Police officer
  • Fashion designer
  • Architect
  • Spy/secret agent
  • Chef
  • Superhero

But those childhood dreams do differ based on gender. For men, the top thing they wanted to be when they grew up was a professional athlete, and for women it was a teacher.

Want to Sleep With a Co-Worker? Affair at Work Website Can Make it Happen

Have a thing for your married boss? A steamy supply-room hookup might not be so far-flung, thanks to a racy new dating service calledAffair at Work. Launched last month, the site is designed to help married and taken employees “safely” cheat on their partners at the office. Here’s how it works:

  • A wannabe cheater heads to the site’s homepage, where he or she can log in through an Instagram account, enter a co-worker crush’s handle and e-mail address, as well as his or her own.
  • Then, the potential flame receives an e-mail declaring, “A co-worker wants to have an affair with you.” If they choose to go to the site — and happen to enter the other person’s Instagram handle and e-mail address — the two-timers get an e-mail breaking the good (?) news. “You both requested an affair with each other. Enjoy!” the service cheerily declares, along with their Instagram handles.

The site’s founder “Mike” says that way, “you’ll know they’re into it before you even make a move.” The 36-year-old software engineer, who asked to only be identified by his first name to prevent his life from going up in flames, thinks the site will be a game-changer for shy Jims and Pams of the world — and also believes it will crack down on #MeToo moments.

*LIST* Food Trends You’ll Be Seeing Everywhere In 2020

As we wrap up 2019 and head into the new decade, a new wave of food trends will be coming our way. This year, oat milk, cauliflower pizza and probiotic foods were big and they’ll still stick around, but in 2020, there are more tasty trends ahead. So what will we be seeing on shelves and menus next year? Here’s what we can look forward to in the New Year:

  • Plant-based meat- Following the success of Burger King’s Impossible Whopper, more restaurants have been adding plant-based proteins to menus and we’ll be seeing even more in 2020.
  • Aronia berries- Trend forecaster WGSN predicts these berries, also called the Chokeberry, will be big next year. They look like a blueberry and are supposed to be tasty and packed with antioxidants.
  • Ube [[OO-bay]]- This purple yam is big in Filipino cooking and its vibrant color has made it popular, but it’s delicious too, and is used in lots of desserts including ice cream and doughnuts.
  • More spreads and butters- Beyond peanut butter, almond butter, and cashew butter, we’ll be seeing newbies like watermelon seed butter and macadamia nut butter in the coming year.
  • More Kombucha- The fermented tea is very trendy and that’s not expected to change in 2020.
  • Mocktails- With more people taking a break from booze, the sober curious lifestyle is becoming more popular, so we’ll be seeing more “dry” happy hours and mocktails. Cheers to no hangover!
  • Nashville Hot chicken- The Tennessee specialty is gaining fans who love the deliciously spicy food.

How To Make Less Trash This Holiday Season

We love holiday gatherings with loved ones and excited kids opening presents, but the overflowing trash cans filled with wrapping paper, boxes, and uneaten food? Not so much. But we do generate a lot of trash this time of year - according to Stanford University research, Americans throw out 25% more garbage between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. So what can we do to cut down? Try these tips for creating less waste this holiday and the environment will thank you.

  • Use social media for good- Didn’t get your Christmas cards out this year? No problem. Cut down on waste by sending a holiday greeting on Facebook instead.
  • Trade in your paper goods- Swap your paper towels for cloth napkins and hand towels you’ll be able to use for years to come.
  • Try reusable forms of gift wrap- Here’s a scary statistic: 80% of the extra five-million tons of waste that Americans generate during the holidays is caused by shopping bags and wrapping paper. Avoid contributing to that by using a scarf or cool tea towel, or even repurposed paper grocery bags to wrap with.
  • Create an edible centerpiece- Instead of plastic figurines or seasonal candles that will just end up in the closet or basement after the holidays, try an edible centerpiece made with bright citrus, pomegranates, and nuts that are pretty and can be eaten or composted when you’re done with it.
  • Recycle your Christmas tree- Lots of us drag our tree to the curb after Christmas, but you could turn it into compost or mulch instead. Some cities even offer mulching services where residents can trade in their old tree for free mulch.
