Bad Hair Days Ruin A Lot Of Lives For Americans
There’s no doubt people put a lot of time and effort into getting their hair to look perfect each day, but sometimes no matter how hard they try it just isn’t going to happen. And apparently those bad hair days are happening a lot more than you’d think.
A new survey finds:
- Americans suffer 96 bad hair days a year.
- That translates to three months of bad hair days, or eight bad hair days per month.
And bad hair days hit some people really hard.
- 80% of people say they have opted to stay in rather than leave their house because they can’t get their hair to cooperate.
- 33% of people have actually called in sick because of their bad hair, with the average person calling in six five times.
- Half of those surveyed have canceled a date because of unruly locks.
- 38% have skipped a social function.
- 43% have missed a job interview because of their hair.
So, just how important is good hair?
- Well, 54% say a good hair day puts them in in a better mood than having sex or a great massage.
- 40% say they feel more confident on a good hair day, while 52% say it makes them smile more often.

Finland Offering Dads Same Paid Parental Leave as Moms
Finland’s woman-led center-left government plans to give new fathers the same amount of paid time off work as new mothers, nearly doubling paternity leave, it announced on yesterday. Paid paternity leave will be extended to nearly seven months, in line with maternity leave.
Around half can be given to the other parent. Pregnant women are also entitled to a month of pregnancy leave before the expected date of birth. Minister of Health and Social Affairs Aino-Kaisa Pekonen said the aim of the “radical reform” was both to improve gender equality and to boost a declining birth rate.
“This enables better equality between parents and diversity among families,” she said. The number of newborns in Finland fell by around a fifth between 2010 and 2018, to just 47,577 babies in a country of around 5.5 million people. Pekonen said other countries such as Sweden and Iceland had seen increases in their birth rates after offering more leave for fathers.

Study: Kids Think Their Parents Are “Phubbing” Them -While many parents think kids spend too much time on their phones, kids think the same about their parents.
That’s the takeaway from a new study in the Journal of Adolescence. Kids say their parents are guilty of “phubbing.” That’s the act of snubbing someone in favor of your phone.
Andy Crouch, author of “The Tech-Wise Family” talked about the study with “Good Morning America.” "Parents set the tone and the family agenda," Crouch reminds us.
Most agree phubbing is a problem, so here’s how to control family screen time:
- Set a one hour, one day, one week limit. One hour a day, turn off devices, one day a week do the same, and one week a year unplug.
- Prepare for resistance.
- Walk away and ground yourself.
- About seven minutes into a conversation… when it gets meaty… is when people grab their phone. Resist that.
