Dogs Are Being Trained To Sniff Out Coronavirus
Researchers in the U.K. are working on a way to help stop the spread of coronavirus using dogs. Durham University and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine have partnered with the charity Medical Detection Dogs on a trial to see if dogs can sniff out patients with COVID-19.
With dogs previously having been trained to smell diseases including Cancer and Parkinson’s in people, they’re hoping it will work with coronavirus as well. If it’s a success, the dogs could be used to detect potential carriers in large groups of people, who can then be given an actual coronavirus test. The dogs may be ready in six weeks, if the trial has positive results.
