Vietnam Opens The World’s First 24K-Gold-Plated Hotel

With everything that's going on in the world right now, somebody figured there's one thing that would make us all feel better: a new six-star hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam, complete with a 24K-gold-plated exterior and interior.

After over a decade of development, the Hanoi Golden Lake hotel is on schedule to be completed by the end of this year and the building is already attracting attention because of its unusual decor. The hotel is completely covered in Japanese-imported ceramic tiles infused with real 24K gold, and according to developers, patrons can expect more glorious gold decor on the inside as well. According to Hoa Binh Group, the company behind the project, this is the first hotel in the world to have both the exterior and interior covered in 24K gold.

Apart from the gilded exterior, it has a gold-plated lobby, as well as gold-plated furniture, sink, bathtub and a series of decorations and accessories covered in 24K gold. Amazingly, it won't be as expensive as you might think. As a US dollar goes a lot further in Vietnam these days, you can stay at the Hanoi Golden Lake hotel for about $250 per night.

Mom’s Fix For Constantly Snacking Kids? Installing A Vending Machine

Kids love to snack and they don’t always make the healthiest choices when it comes to food. And now that they’re home all the time, some of them are snacking more than usual, just like a lot of us adults are. But one mom in the U.K. was concerned that her four kids were starting to develop unhealthy habits so she found a way to limit their snacking - by installing a vending machine in their house.

Sarah Balsdonsays she had been noticing her children, ages nine to two, were asking for more candy than usual, but when she realized they were sneaking them upstairs without her knowing, she wanted to put a stop to it. She tried packing them lunches for the day “and once it was gone, it was gone,” but that trick didn’t work and they still tried to sneak sweets. So that’s when she went extreme with the vending machine.

Turns out, it was pretty easy to find, she got it on Facebook Marketplace, and then filled it with her family’s favorite snacks and treats. The kids have to buy them and they can earn money for them by doing chores and school work and it motivates them to help around the house. The mom says her hack is working “really well” so far and has stopped the arguments about unhealthy snacks.
