Man Tormented For a Decade by Mystery Pizzas He Never Ordered

For 10 years, a constant stream of pizza deliveries he didn’t order has tormented a 65-year-old Belgian man.

“I cannot sleep anymore. I start shaking every time I hear a scooter on the street,” Jean Van Landeghem tells Het Laatste Nieuws. “I dread that someone will come to drop off hot pizzas yet another time.”

Van Landeghem, a resident of Turnhout, initially thought a forgetful pizza-lover was accidentally ordering them to the wrong address. But after years of being inundated with unwanted pies, he realized something more sinister was afoot — such a constant miscommunication was surely evidence that someone wanted to take out his mind, he says. But to this day, the mystery remains unsolved.

The pizzas come for Van Landeghem night and day, he tells the Dutch outlet of his “pizza terror.” Other fast food, including kebabs, has also arrived unordered on his doorstep.

In January 2019, the pizzademic reached a peak when 10 delivery drivers were called to his home, one bearing 14 pizzas, the Independent writes.

While emotionally exhausting, the ordeal has at least not been financially draining: Van Landeghem does not pay for the pizzas, instead refusing them and explaining he did not place an order for them. Still, the situation is aggravating for both Van Landeghem and the restaurants delivering the unwanted pies.

New MLB Proposal To Union Has 76-Game Season

Remember yesterday when we told you it seemed like it would take a miracle to save the Major League Baseball season?

Well it seems like someone sprinkled a little fairy dust on the owners’ latest proposal.

Because the latest proposal they sent to the players yesterday offered a higher potential salary than the last plan—albeit less guaranteed money—over a 76-game season.

The owners’ proposal includes potential earnings that would cover up to 75% of players prorated salaries over a 76-game season—about $1.432 billion in total compensation. Of that, $989 million would be in straight salary and $443 million in money paid if the playoffs take place.

Still reports say that players and officials at the MLBPA quickly scoffed at the proposal continuing the gridlock that has prevented MLB from returning after acoronavirus-related delayto the beginning of its season.

If the sides are unable to agree to a deal, the league has the ability to implement a schedule of its desired length. It has focused recently on a potential 48-game season, sources told ESPN.

The lack of movement on a baseball season has frustrated both parties as they blew past a soft deadline of June 1 that would have allowed baseball to return by July 4.
