Couple Wins Battle To Name Their Kid Lucifer

A couple had a hell of a job officially naming their sonLucifer. A registrar tried to bar them from doing so because it is another name for the devil.

The horrified official told them their four-month-old son “wouldn’t succeed in life” with that name. DanandMandy Sheldonwent to register last week after the council office finally opened after the lockdown. What they ended up getting was told their son would never get a job with that name. They left disgusted and filed a complaint against the registrar.

The UK has very few legal restrictions in place for names, although those that contain obscenities and numbers are likely to be rejected. Derbyshire County Council agreed with their decision to name the child Lucifer and said: “We apologize if they were offended but it is the job of our registrars to advise in these matters as sometimes people are not aware of certain meanings or associations around certain names.”

Would You Let Your Kid Play With Another Kid Named Lucifer?

A British couple has managed to name their son Lucifer despite opposition from a registrar who tried to stop them because it is another name for the devil. Dan and Mandy Sheldon, from Derbyshire, lodged an official complaint to the local council after the registrar told them their son "wouldn't succeed in life" if he was called Lucifer. Mr. Sheldon told “The Sun” newspaper: "We were really excited to go and get him registered but the woman looked at us in utter disgust. I tried to explain that we are not religious people, and Lucifer in Greek means ‘light-bringer’ and ‘morning’ but she wouldn’t listen,” adding, "Honestly, we just thought it was a nice name...a unique one," Mr. Sheldon said. "We didn’t expect to get so much grief about it."

  • Would you be okay with your kid having a friend named Lucifer? Wouldn’t you think the parents were a little crazy?

Study: One In 10 Think Partner Eating McDonald's Without Them Is As Bad As Cheating

To all you folks sneaking behind your partners back and hooking up with Ronald McDonald, consider this your warning. You might be one burger away from a breakup. A new study has found one in 10 adults consider their partner eating a McDonald's meal without them to be as bad as cheating.

The poll was taken across the pond in the United Kingdom where the fast-food restaurant was shut down during the quarantine and where their love of McDonald’s is apparently next level. It’s reopened now and one in five said their first taste of a Big Mac after the lockdown was better than a pay raise. And the thirst gets even more real than that. An astounding 16% said sinking their teeth into a burger was on a par with their birth of their first child, and 13% said it was better than their wedding day.Should have gotten it catered by McDonald’s I guess.

And the idea of a second lockdown without fast food is simply unthinkable for most. Nearly half the survey said they’d rather give up booze than Big Macs and 10% said they would prefer to kiss their phone goodbye.Because honestly, what’s the point of drinking and having a phone if you can’t get drunk and have someone deliver you a bag of burgs.
