Son of a Nutcracker! Oreo's Gingerbread Cookies Are Packed With Crunchy Sugar Crystals

Like Buddy the Elf jamming 11 cookies into the VCR, I will be spending this weekend stuffing my face with Oreo's new gingerbread-flavored cookies and loving every minute of it. The sweet holiday treat was first spotted on shelves at Walgreens byInstagram user dncsnacksterzon Sept. 14, and I can practically smell the freshly baked gingerbread wafting through the air.

Perfect for pairing with a hotpumpkin spice latteor a steamingcup of hot chocolate, the festive cookies are made with gingerbread-flavored Oreo wafers and stuffed with cream and crunchy red sugar crystals. For anyone looking to take aesthetically pleasing holiday photos with the snacks, they also come in five different holiday-themed designs. So I am definitely adding these to the top of my holiday wish list. Take a closer look at the dessert here, and shop the limited-edition cookies for yourself at stores nationwide.

How to Replicate the Benefits of 'Vacation Anticipation'

Yeah, vacations are great, but you know what’s just about as good?Looking forward to vacationing. Those days at work when you know you’ve got a great trip planned just fly by don’t they? Psychologist Taisha Caldwell-Harvey says “vacation anticipation” is a way a lot of people perform self-care but obviously with COVID travel restrictions, it’s hard to come by these days. Luckily though, you can recreate it without the actual vacation.

  • Plan a day trip or a quick nearby weekend getaway. The best part of vacation anticipation is that you get it whether the trip is big or small. Meaning a weekend trip to a cool hiking trail or doing some leaf-peeping in a park a couple of towns over could be just what the doctor ordered. Whether it’s 15 hours or 15 minutes away, those new experiences will give your brain something to look forward to and fill you up with some much needed happy thoughts.
  • Plan a four-hour vacation. When it comes to vacation anticipation, distance doesn’t matter, and neither does timing. For example, Caldwell-Harvey says a four-hour vacation could be the time it takes to let go and relax. Order your favorite food and drinks, put your phone in the other room, and just vibe out to some music. No work, no distractions, just pure relaxation. Now that’s something to look forward to.

Plans Released For The World's First Reality Show In Space

A production company just scored a deal to hold what may be the first-ever reality show in space. The current plan for the show they’re calling “Space Hero” is to have people compete to find the worthiest soul to launch into orbit with the winner taking a legit trip to the International Space Station.

According to the plan, “The selected group of contestants will undergo extensive training and face challenges testing their physical, mental and emotional strength, qualities that are essential for an astronaut in space” with viewers worldwide voting live to pick the winner.

They’ve already locked down a deal for the crew of the SpaceX Dragon rocket to shuttle the winner on the planned 2023 mission to the ISS, so it’s all a matter of finding a spot for the show and some contestants now.

People Are Already Booking Virtual Santa Visits

We’re still enjoying the last smidge of summer before fall officially begins, but some people are already focused on the holidays. They won’t be heading to the mall and standing in line for the kids to talk to Santa this year, but like a lot of things, those visits are going virtual. Several companies that book events with St. Nick are encouraging people to sign up for their virtual or socially distant events now to beat the rush.

One of them,JingleRing, reports they’ve been getting requests from customers since August. They don’t officially open for bookings until November 1st, but their CEO and co-founder,Walt Greer, says, “Based on what we’re seeing, it’s about to get real busy.” And what’s not to love? Parents can score a personalized pre-recorded video message from Santa for $20 and a live virtual visit with him for just $25, which is less than the national average for a Santa mall photo package.

Photographers are also getting early interest in setting up holiday photo shoots.Alexis Mears, a photographer in Delaware says she’s had families asking about getting Christmas card photos months ago. “Everybody said, ‘We finally got to slow down and we need pictures because we’re finally together,’” her clients tell her. She expects her Christmas card shoots to sell out this year, which she’ll be doing while wearing a mask the entire time and so will her subjects, except when she’s snapping their pictures.
