Demi Skipperstarted with a single bobby pin and a dream of turning it into a house, and six months later, she did it. The 29-year-old social media influencer started theTrade Me Projectin May and recently announced that she’d achieved her goal of exchanging items in half a year’s time.
The San Francisco-based woman shared with her 275-thousand Instagram followers that not long ago she traded a 2006 Mustang for a 2011 Jeep and then traded that toAustin Kratz, owner of Wildbound Cabin Co in exchange for a brand new tiny home. “The trade really is unbelievable,” Skipper said, describing the cabin as “beautiful.” And while it’s not technicallythehouse she was working toward, she says, it’s definitely a step in the right direction.
The inspo for her dream of trading a bobby pin up to eventually get a home comes fromKyleMacDonald, a Canadian blogger who started with a red paperclip and over the course of a year, traded his way to a two-story house! Skipper made more than 20 trades and scored some major deals in the process, including a snowboard, an Apple TV, and an electric bike food truck. And even though she now has a place to call home, she says she’s not done trading yet and hopes to trade the tiny home for a house that she can donate to someone in the Trade Me Project family.
