Brett Favre wants to end tackling in youth football

Former Packers quarterback Brett Favre has stepped up his efforts in getting tackling out of youth football.

In a documentary in 2017, Favre believes he had thousands of concussions after learning more about the effects of CTE and the symptoms of concussions. For that reason, Favre wants tackling out of youth football, saying that he would rather his grandkids play golf than football.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Favre discusses supporting legislation in Illinois that will ban tackle football prior to high school (the Dave Duerson Act) and wants it implemented nationally:

'The state level is a start, but we have to adopt this plan and all do it together,' he said. 'The body, the brain, the skull is not developed in your teens and single digits. I cringe. I see these little kids get tackled and the helmet is bigger than everything else on the kid combined. They look like they're going to break in half.'
