An endurance athlete from Spain is now the first person to cross the Pacific Ocean via paddle boarding.
On Friday, 42-year-old Antonio De La Rosa arrived in Waikiki after making the 76-day journey from San Francisco. He made the 25-hundred-mile voyage completely alone, with no escort vehicle, using nothing but the wind, ocean currents, and lots of elbow grease.
De La Rosa used a special 24-foot vessel that's a combination paddle board and small boat. He says he wanted to raise awareness about the importance of protecting the ocean from man-made pollution. He notes he saw plastic all along his trip.
