It appears that scientists believe they have figured out what the creature is behind the sightings of the fabled Loch Ness Monster.Researchers from New Zealand say that they have been able to catalog all living species in the loch by taking DNA samples from the water. Following analysis, the scientists have ruled out the presence of large animals said to be behind reports of a monster. In fact, they say that no evidence of a prehistoric marine reptile called a plesiosaur or a large fish such as a sturgeon were found. What they did find was a lot of juvenile eels, known as elvers. They had arrived in Scottish rivers and lochs after migrating more than 3,100 miles from the Sargasso Sea near the Bahamas, where the animals spawn and lay eggs. They believe that the sightings might just be of a giant eel that lives in the waters.
