A defendant whose story was told in the documentary series “Making A Murderer” will sit in jail until at least June.
That’s when a federal appeals court in Chicago will be ruling on the case of the man who's still in prison even though his life sentence for murder was overturned. Brendan Dassey was sentenced with his uncle, Steven Avery, for a 2005 killing that was featured in the Netflix series "Making a Murderer."
Both sides in the case presented brief arguments in front of the panel of judges at the Seventh Circuit Court yesterday.
Dassey's conviction was overturned in August by a federal magistrate, who ruled authorities coerced a confession out of the teenager. Dassey has remained in prison while the state appealed the ruling.
