Hamburger Sells For Ten-Thousand At Auction
How much would you spend for a really great burger? The founder of a Dubai lifestyle magazine shelled out $10-grand for what's now been dubbed the world's most expensive hamburger at a charity auction.
What’s on it? Nothing really “special” – no gold, no caviar, no truffles. It’s just huge. As in, tall. We're talking seven beef patties, with some aged cheddar and veal bacon. Then they’re all slapped on a saffron brioche bun with seven spices and some Harissa burger sauce. And yes, there’s lettuce and tomato, too.
All proceeds from the auction, which included other culinary wonders, will go to breast cancer research.

It’s Time To Stop Hiding Vegetables In Your Kids’ Food
Ask most parents and they’ll tell you that getting their kids to eat vegetables can be a real pain. For this reason, many have found covert ways to get them to eat their veggies, by sneaking them into smoothies or other types of food. But it turns out, hiding those veggies may not be the best idea.
Gillian Harris, an expert on picky eating in children, says sneaking veggies into a kids’ diet isn’t smart, and instead you need to be teaching them how to actually like vegetables, regardless of any weird textures they may associate with them. She explains, “You want the child to look at the vegetable, taste the vegetable, get used to the vegetable and eat that vegetable when they're seven or eight.”
Research suggests that kids who don’t eat a lot of veggies early in life grow up with poor diets, which can lead to diseases like weight problems, cardiovascular disease and cancer later in life. And there are lot of kids that are at risk, with studies showing 93% of kids between one and 18 aren't eating doctor recommendations for veggie intake.
So how do you get your kids to eat veggies without hiding them? Some say giving veggies superhero names, like “X-Ray Vision Carrots,” could work, or pairing them with something yummy like dip. Meanwhile, research suggests that the best way to get them to eat them is to just continuously give them veggies, with experts suggesting about eight to 15 times. Others say offering a kid something like a sticker when they eat their veggies will eventually get them to eat them without the reward, while others say letting kids play with their veggies, touching, tearing and smushing them, so they can try and figure out how they’ll feel in their mouth, may hopefully get them to taste it.

Today is National Corned Beef and Cabbage Day
Are you really surprised to find out that March 17th is National Corned Beef and Cabbage Day? Likely not. To “corn” something is simply to preserve it in a salty brine (the term corn refers to the coarse grains of salt used for curing). Corned beef is a salt-cured beef product.
In the traditional Irish Corned Beef and Cabbage recipes, salt pork or bacon joint were used instead of corned beef. Uncertain of the date, but knowing it was sometime in the early 1800′s and possibly even earlier, in Ireland, cows were not used for their meat. In truth, cows were used for their dairy. Considered a luxury food, beef was only consumed for “food” by the wealthy. Instead of beef, it was pork that was served to celebrate the holidays.
Sometime in the mid 1800′s when the Irish immigrated to America, they found that Jewish “corned beef” was very similar in texture to bacon joint (pork). It was then that corned beef was used as a replacement for the bacon when preparing corned beef and cabbage meals. Soon after that time, the Irish-Americans began having Corned Beef and Cabbage on St. Patrick’s Day.

Fourteen-year-old Kalel Langford found the gem while visiting the Crater of diamonds State Park in Murfreesboro on Saturday. It's the the 7th-largest diamond found at the Arkansas State Park since 1972.
Family members were shocked when park officials confirmed the brown-colored stone was actually a rough diamond. Kalel – who shares the same birthname as Superman – has decided to call his find the "Superman diamond." And for now, he plans to keep the gem as a souvenir.

Kitten Fur Perfume Is Real
There's a new fragrance on the market that some might describe as "purrrrrfect." Yes, Demeter Fragrance Library has just released a perfume says they've finally perfected a fragrance that smells just like a kitten's fur.
The scent took 15 years to puuurrrrrfect and according to Demeter, "captures the olfactory essence of the warmth and comfort of that purrfect spot, just behind a kitten's neck."
It's available in multiple forms, including a cologne spray, roll-on perfume oil, body lotion, shower gel, massage and body oil, and atmosphere spray.
The reviews online are mixed to say the least. "The top notes are a combination of litter dust and cat spit" or "fish and cat spit," says one user, while others say it's "a mix between newborn baby, a freshly baked loaf of bread and the scent of home." We'd be happy to smell the latter.
