Japanese Princess Abdicates To Marry Commoner

Plenty of women would love to be a princess, but Japan’s Princess Mako is giving up her life of royalty for love. The 25-year-old daughter of Prince Akishino and granddaughter of Emperor Akihito wants to marry a commoner - Kei Komuro. And she’s giving up her royal title to do it.

As the story goes, the couple met at a study-abroad event at a restaurant in Tokyo around five years ago, while they were both students at the International Christian University there. Now, it’s not like the family’s upset – the Imperial Household has confirmed plans are in motion for them to become engaged.

But when Princess Mako marries Komuro, she’ll become a commoner. Still, it’s not like she’d have ever been head of the Chrysanthemum Throne anyway – unlike what happened in Britain, they only pass that position down to male heirs. Her father and younger brother are in line to succeed the Emperor, but her uncle, Crown Prince Naruhito, is first in line.

Since Japanese weddings for royal family members are “highly ritualized,” it’ll probably be awhile before the nuptials. First, we can expect a public announcement, most likely next month, and then a wedding date, followed by a “formal report to the emperor and empress.”

And even though it’s not official yet, congratulations to the happy couple. Komuro must be some amazing guy for Mako to give up being a princess to follow her heart.

You can also customize it with flavor swirls and shots, as well as choose different kinds of dairy to make it your own.

But the best part about the frozen coffee is that they’re giving away free samples of it today at participating Dunkin Donuts locations from 10am this morning until 2pm this afternoon. So swing my and try it out for free. This could be your new drink of the summer!

Today is National Devil’s Food Cake Day

May 19th is National Devil’s Food Cake Day! What is chocolaty, light, decadent, and moist? Devil's food cake of course! Today is a celebration of this delicious dessert, which is considered the counterpart to the classic white angel food cake. Devil's food cake has a unique light and moist texture, which sets it apart from other chocolate cakes. The recipe calls for quite a bit of baking soda, and boiling water instead of milk. Both of these ingredients contribute to the fluffiness of this confection.

Devil's food cake first appeared in the United States in the early 1900s. It is quite similar to red velvet cake and the names are often interchangeable in some parts of the country. To celebrate National Devil's Food Cake Day, make some divine devil's food cake to have for dessert tonight!

Why Dating Younger Men Works For A Lot Of Women

While it’s pretty common to see older men dating much younger women, when it’s the other way around - people used to frown upon it. But it seems these days we’re seeing more older woman/younger male couplings and it turns out, there are a lot of reasons why dating a younger man seems to be better for a gal.

“Younger guys tend to be more active, have less baggage,” 42-year-old New Yorker Amber Soletti, who is engaged to a 34-year-old, says. “You’re less likely to date a younger guy who’s been divorced, has children or has sexual performance issues.”

And experts agree that the such pairings do seem to make sense, especially since older men may feel threatened by a strong independent woman. “Older successful men are used to being in control of a woman, and that doesn’t sit well with modern women,” Susan Winter, co-author of the book “Older Women, Younger Men: New Options for Love and Romance,” says. “Younger men have grown up with working women and have worked for female bosses, so they’re more likely to treat women equally.”

  • From the male side, some younger guys like that older women know what they want and are upfront about it. Alan Angal, a 36-year-old who’s marrying his 45-year-old fiancée Jennifer Signer this summer, notes, “With some women I dated, they wanted to play games, but Jennifer always communicated that she wanted something real. He adds, “I always knew where I stood with her.”

Young People Are Going Gray On Purpose

While rainbow hair and pastel hair are still big trends, those looks aren’t for everyone. And some colorists are taking their client’s hair in a much darker direction - a deep gray shade that they’re calling charcoal hair. Yep, people are coloring their hair gray on purpose.

The gray hair trend isn’t totally new, some people have been rocking the look for years. But this shade is unique, it’s dark - not quite black and not quite silver either, and it has a hint of blue, too.

“The balance of blue and gray is really key,” explains colorist Maayan Birnstein. “The hair needs to have no orange remaining in it.” She says the way to make sure that happens is to ask the colorist for a bleach and tone.

Check out #charcoal hair on Instagram to see the variety of ways young women are wearing the gray hair look. And if you’re thinking of trying charcoal hair yourself, you can’t get this color from a box, so let a professional turn your tresses gray instead of trying to DIY.

Is It “Revenge Shopping” When I Make All The Money In My House?

Hey guys this is Lucinda. I’m a 32 year old professional and big fan of your show.

The reason I’m emailing you is because my friends tell me I should go revenge shopping ever since my husband and I had a huge fight over selling our house saying the best way to get back at him is to come home with a few bags of clothes and shoes. But in my case, I make the majority of the money and pay most of the bills so would it really be “revenge” shopping if I have to pay the credit card at the end of the month?

Is there another way to vent my anger towards my husband? My sister suggested I get dressed up sexy and go out for a girl’s night with her and the rest of my friends. What do you guys think? What’s the best way to vent my frustrations with him without revenge shopping?

Signed,

Lucinda
