Dog Toys Are Cleaner Than Reusable Water Bottles-water may be clean, but your reusable water bottle is definitely not.

Treadmill Reviews decided to find out how germy out bottles are and it may make you rethink buying agua by the case. The research revealed that “the average refillable bottle “can be many times worse than licking your dog’s toy.” How bad was it? The average athlete’s water bottle had 313,499 CFU (colony-forming units of bacteria) and the average dog toy has 2,937.

As far as the types of bottles, one was clearly more gross than the others. The slide top bottles tested had a whopping average of 933,340 CFU, while straw top water bottles were a clear winner with a mere 25.4 CFU. Also screw-top bottles had 159,060 CFU, which is about with the kitchen sink and the squeeze top had an average of 161,971 CFU.

Out of all this, the most important part of the research was discovering that most of the bacteria found on the bottles was classified as harmful and resistant strains were common as was E-Coli.

The scientists recommend going for the the straw bottles and to use stainless steel instead of plastic. Also, when you are done with the bottle, get it into the dishwasher immediately; don’t let it “simmer” in your backseat. Source: New York Post

Science May Have Found A Cure For Sunburn Pain

We all know those people who spend the day at the beach and forget to sunblock properly and come home looking like a tomato. There’s no doubt such scorching burns can be painful, and there are a whole host of home remedies that people swear by to help them get through the pain. But it looks like researchers may have finally found a sure fire remedy for relief.

According to new research, Vitamin D may be the cure for all the pains that come with a bad burn. Researchers at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine found that folks who took large doses of Vitamin D within an hour of getting their sunburn saw significant reductions in redness, swelling and inflammation.

The study gave 20 subjects a burn using a lamp, and they were then given either a placebo or Vitamin D in varying doses. Those who got the strongest doses saw their skin irritation decrease within 48 hours, and also saw less skin redness. It is believed an anti-inflammatory enzyme in the skin is increased with the Vitamin D, which also triggers anti-inflammatory proteins and promotes tissue repair.

  • The researchers are now looking into whether Vitamin D’s effects could result in more protection from ultraviolent radiation and even skin cancer, but so far there’s no definitive answer. Lead author Kurt Lu, a Case Western assistant professor of dermatology, notes,  "We are currently investigating that topic and hopefully may learn new ways to prevent skin cancer other than just sunscreens.”

The States That Spend The Most (And Least) On Weddings

Anyone who’s planned a wedding will tell you that the cost of the big day is rarely cheap. Of course how much you actually shell out for the venue, flowers, dresses, etc will vary depending on which state you live in, and there’s no doubt that number can be much bigger in some states than others.

Well, 24/7 Wall Street looked at data from the research company The Wedding Report to determine which state’s brides and grooms are shelling out the most money. Not surprising, the venue, catering and rental costs take up most of a couple’s budget, around 45%, followed by jewelry and photography costs.

So, where are folks spending the most money to get hitched? Believe it or not, couples in New Jersey dip into their wallets the most, spending, on average, $39,602 for their nuptials, with Connecticut a close second at $38,583.

Study Finds Eating Bananas Can Boost Your Chance Of Having Boys

Have you ever heard that old wives tale that women who want to have baby boys should eat a lot of bananas? Turns out, there could actually be some truth to it.

According to a study from published by The Royal Society, what a woman eats before she conceives could actually affect the gender of her baby! And eating a boatload of bananas, or anything else with lots of potassium, could lead to her having a bouncing baby boy.

The study looked at 740 British women during their first pregnancy and found that the moms who had sons also had highly nutritious diets that were high in potassium. The research also showed that women who ate a lot of breakfast cereals before conception were also more likely to have a boy.

So, while there’s no guarantee that eating a bunch of bananas pre-pregnancy will guarantee you a son, it’s still healthier than a lot of stuff you could be eating. And if you are hoping to get pregnant and have a boy, you might want to have a big bowl of cereal with sliced bananas for breakfast from now on. Couldn’t hurt, right?

Bride Makes 92-Year-Old Grandma Her Flower Girl

Normally, a bride doesn’t want anyone else in the wedding party to steal the show, but that’s what happened when Abby Arlt made her grandma her flower girl. Her 92-year-old grandmother, Georgiana Arlt, was the star of the Minnesota nuptials.

Arlt pushed her walker down the aisle and tossed flower petals as guests cheered and clapped. And when she finished her duties, she said with a laugh, “That was hard work!”

The bride says she always wanted her grandparents to be her flower girl and ring bearer, but her grandfather passed away before she tied the knot to Dustin Mershon over the weekend. Congratulations to the happy couple!

The collaborative Nissin Top Ramen Chicken Flavor Pringles will be available exclusively at Dollar General stores for a limited time beginning at the end of July.

"Pringles flavorologists worked closely with Nissin to pop the top on a classic noodle dish and bring the fan-favorite Top Ramen Chicken Flavor to life on a Pringles crisp," Pringles said in a press release. "The result - a crisp that tastes like Nissin Top Ramen Chicken Flavor right out of the bowl."

The unusual chips will also retail at a special price of $1.50 per package, in reference to ramen's reputation as a thrifty meal.

Reactions to the news of the chips received mixed reviews on social media, as writer and director Matthew Cherry tweeted asking for reviews of the chips and Precious actress Gabourey Sidibe suggested the collaboration went the wrong way.

"I feel like Pringles-flavored Ramen makes more sense but y'all live ya life how you want it!" Sidibe responded.

Many observers were disgusted at the thought of the ramen-flavored chips, but T-Mobile CEO John Legere tweeted the combination was inevitable.

"It was only a matter of time before this became a thing..." Legere wrote.
