Embattled musician R.Kelly believes his prison life is putting his own in danger.
According to TMZ, the R&B singer, who is currently being held without bond as of Tuesday's court hearing (July 16) in Chicago, now fears retaliation from fellow inmates who may be privy to the alleged sex crimes with underage girls which landed him behind bars.
After visiting him in federal prison Thursday (July 18), Kelly's attorney, Nicole Blank Becker, told the celebrity gossip outlet the disgraced crooner admitted to feeling much safer in solitary confinement than joining the prison's general population.
Kelly pled not guilty at the hearing. However, a judge ordered the ruling after federal prosecutors described the 52-year-old as "an extreme danger to the community, especially to minor girls." As of yet, Kelly remains confined in Chicago’s downtown Metropolitan Correctional Center until his next court date.
This all comes after the star was arrested for the third time this year after a grand jury indicted him on 13 additional charges of sexual abuse, including multiple counts of producing child pornography and receiving child pornography. The indictments came in light of a federal investigation uncovering more than 20 videos of Kelly allegedly sexually abusing minors on film.
As you know, Kelly faces crimes in both Illinois and New York. If convicted, Kelly faces a minimum of 15 years and a maximum prison sentence of 195 years on charges in the former state, and up to 30 years for charges in latter.
