Airline Completes Longest Non-Stop Flight - Over 19 Hours

Most people who travel like to do so by flying non-stop to their destination, but there are some cities that take too long to get to...until now.

History was made as Qantas Airlines completed the very first non-stop commercial flight from New York to Sydney, Australia in 19 hours and 16 minutes. The 10,066-mile journey was the first nonstop commercial flight connecting the two cities.

The flight carried 49 passengers and crew. Qantas used this test flight to “run a series of experiments” to measure the effects of long-haul travel on pilots, passengers and airline crew, It also will help them determine whether or not it to add the nonstop New York-to-Sydney flight to passengers.

They plan on testing London to Sydney next and if approved, the flights could commence by 2022 or 2023.
