Mom installs vending machine to fix kids' excessive snacking

Kids love to snack and they don’t always make the healthiest choices when it comes to food. And now that they’re home all the time, some of them are snacking more than usual, just like a lot of us adults are. But one mom in the U.K. was concerned that her four kids were starting to develop unhealthy habits so she found a way to limit their snacking - by installing a vending machine in their house.

Sarah Balsdonsays she had been noticing her children, ages nine to two, were asking for more candy than usual, but when she realized they were sneaking them upstairs without her knowing, she wanted to put a stop to it. She tried packing them lunches for the day “and once it was gone, it was gone,” but that trick didn’t work and they still tried to sneak sweets. So that’s when she went extreme with the vending machine.

Turns out, it was pretty easy to find, she got it on Facebook Marketplace, and then filled it with her family’s favorite snacks and treats. The kids have to buy them and they can earn money for them by doing chores and school work and it motivates them to help around the house. The mom says her hack is working “really well” so far and has stopped the arguments about unhealthy snacks.
