Things You Can Do To Be Happier, Smarter, More Emotionally Aware

If there was a pill that could reduce your anxiety, stress – and risk of dementia – all while increasing your happiness, you’d probably pay a good amount for that, right? Unfortunately, such a pill doesn’t exist, but fortunately, you can have all those amazing benefits for free. Because all of those are side effects of working on your creativity. Here are some exercises to give yours a boost that you can work into your routine.

  • Morning Pages. Wake up, brush your teeth, get yourself a cup of coffee, and block off 40 uninterrupted minutes for freewriting. According to “The Artist’s Way” authorJulia Cameron, this time is meant to show you that our own critical nature is usually what’s holding back our creativity. So, sit down and write until you’ve filled three, unedited pages and then move on to your day.
  • Personal Projects. Have you ever noticed that you’re far more motivated to work on things you’re personally connected to? And with motivation comes more effort and creativity. Take on more personal projects. That could mean something as big as starting your own business or something as small as mastering some TikTok dance. Find yourthingand you might be surprised how much that positive creative energy transfers to other facets of your life.
  • 21 Days Of Sketching. The founder and CEOofStanton & CompanyAmy Stantonhas found sketching to “be a release and a way of expressing, and unloading the unconscious.” So she challenged herself, and one she recommends to others is to commit to 21 days of sketching. Your drawings may never be Instagram worthy, but that’s ok because the real goal is to learn to stop judging yourself and to learn to let go.
