While most probably dream of finding love with a guy who looks like Ryan Reynolds or Matthew McConaughey, it turns out such good looking fellas aren’t necessarily the key to happiness. In fact, science suggests that if gals want to be happy they should go after the frog, not the prince.
A new study out of Florida State University finds that there’s a better chance that a relationship will work out if an attractive woman is paired with a less attractive fella, than vice versa
The study focused on 113 20-something newlyweds living in the Dallas area, rating them on their looks, and then questioning them about their desire to stay attractive and in shape. What they found was that in couples where the woman was more attractive than the man, the fella tended to compensate with presents, acts of kindness, and even sex. Such acts helped the relationship because it made the women feel more appreciated.
On the flipside, in cases where the man was more attractive, women felt more pressure because of their good looking fella, causing them to obsess about their diet and exercise, making them less happy.
