Should You Google Your Date Before Meeting? Experts Say No

Every millennial is basically an amateur private detective based on our Internet expertise. And there’s nothing we use ourvirtual stalking skillsmore for, than dating. We match with a stranger on Tinder and then we use Google to find any public social media they have so we can scroll through their entire life before meeting them IRL.

The question is:Does having all access to all this info ruining dating?

Dating experts say light snooping is fine, but since nobody just clicks on one picture, or reads just one of their tweets,it’s becoming an issue.Julie Spira, an online dating expert, says it kills some of the magic. “When you get to the date, it's good to be conversational and see if you have chemistry,” she explains. “But no one wants to feel like their date did a background check on them before meeting for the first time."

The other issue with your cyber-stalking is that you’re letting their online presence be your first impression instead of a real-life first impression. You wouldn’t want someone to judge you based on posts you put up 5-10 years ago, would you?Yet we do that to our matches all the time. Spira adds, “Some old entries might not be relevant to who the person is today.”

  • But since some peoplejust can’t help themselvesthe most important thing you can do about Dating Google Snooping is to clean up your feeds. Matchmaker and dating expertCarmelia Raysays that single people should "Google themselves and clean up anything in their past or online footprint they may not be proud of."

Twinkies Cereal is Hitting Store Shelves Next Month

Twinkies cereal will be hitting store shelves nationwide next month. Beginning in late December, fans of the sponge snack cake can consume it as a breakfast food, called Post Hostess Twinkies Cereal. The sugary collaboration between Post Consumer Brands and Twinkies-maker Hostess replicates the gas station treat’s golden-colored cake and oblong shape. A one cup serving of the cereal is 180 calories — slightly more than a single 150 calorie Twinkie. “In developing a cereal version of the iconic Twinkies, our top priority was focused on delivering the great Twinkies flavor in each bite,” Josh Jans, manager of brand partnerships for Post, told Business Insider. “Knowing that taste remains the number one purchase driver of cereal, we conducted multiple consumer tests, and the new Twinkies Cereal delivered. We think fans will find that it not only tastes great with milk but also outside the bowl.”

Investigation Finds Makeup Samplers Tested Positive for Deadly Diseases

Makeup testers in cosmetic stores, including lipstick, mascara, eye shadow, and blush, were found to potentially carry deadly illnesses and sexually transmitted diseases, according to an investigation by Charlotte broadcaster WCNC. The news station swabbed 10 makeup testers from area cosmetic stores. The swabs were then placed in petri dishes of agar — a substance used to reveal any organisms hidden in the sample. The team waited five days and took the dishes to an infectious-disease specialist. The results were revolting. “Some of these are molds,” says Dr. Arash Poursina of the Piedmont Medical Center, examining photos of the dishes and identifying what could be E. coli, herpes, staph and MRSA. The last two are potentially deadly, if they get into your bloodstream, Poursina says. And herpes has no cure. “Even sexually transmitted diseases can be transmitted by sharing makeup,” Poursina says.
